Messi returns to open training content
Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi got into a minor scuffle with Argentina team-mate Rodrigo De Paul as they joked about it in training. The video, which has been circulating on social media, was filmed during the national team's meeting in Miami as they prepare for a friendly against Honduras on Friday night.
Messi and De Paul could be seen insulting each other before the situation escalated, with Messi's Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Leandro Paredes forced to intervene.
DePaul asked the Argentinian No. 10: 'Are you stupid, Leo? Before slapping his teammate lightly.
That's when Paredes stepped in and dragged DePaul away. Despite the slightly confrontational demeanor, the three players could be seen in good spirits and laughing about the incident.
The duo have developed a strong relationship since DePaul was named to the national team in 2018 and are both part of the 2021 Copa America-winning team.
Lionel Scaloni's side play Honduras in a friendly tonight at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium before taking on Jamaica next Wednesday.
The match will be their penultimate match ahead of the World Cup, which begins in November, with the team also scheduled to play the United Arab Emirates a week before. Argentina are in Group C and face Mexico, Poland and Saudi Arabia in Qatar later this year.
